This entry is part 6 of 6 in the series Game Character Models

This is our latest Persian Warrior character in a series of four. Ghobad is the leader of the group and what he lacks in strength and brute force compared to the other warriors he makes up for it using his cunning wits and his excellent marksmanship.

The model is done by Reza Ramezani using Zbrush 3.1, based on a concept by Faraz Shanyar and it has taken about 36 hours so far for the model alone. We still haven’t moved to Zbrush 3.5 yet but with all the fabulous features it has, we won’t be resisting long. For those of you interested you can read more about some of its greatest features such as Zspheres II and Zsketch on the pixologic website.

We will post the shaded and rendered model in future posts on our blog as well as on our CG Portfolio page.

I’m sorry you don’t like our depiction of Persian warriors but in our opinion these are neither demeaning or offensive images. As Iranians we are very proud of our heritage and our goal was to create characters that were fun, unique and based on our own vision, and based on the feedback we have received, most of our visitors liked them.
I believe your comments were not intended to be used as constructive criticism.

I think you watched 300 many many times!
It is not funny at all as I said it’s disgusting as Persian warriors in 300.
and you should get more that 4 feedback to be sure this Bald Characters are funny.

Reza Ghobady Reply:

I personally watched 300 once and I didn’t hate it. I didn’t love the movie either, it was more an MTV video clip than a movie for me.

The Persian warriors were not disgusting in 300, they were just depicted as bad guys by the hollywood machine and it is not the first or the last time that hollywood portrays a people incorrectly. Believe me, it wasn’t aimed at you personally or the Persian people, it was aimed at making more money; that is always the prime objective in the movie industry.

I’m sorry our characters disgust you but I have a feeling you’re easily disgusted. These characters are very dear and respectful to me and the artists who worked on them.

Just to let you know, I’m bald and extremely funny and I’ve had tons of feedback on our characters. Everyone loves them!
